Community Guidelines

The Science Coding Immersion Program (SCIP) wants to build a positive, open and collaborative community for those who are in the sciences and are interested in learning how to code.

Rationale

We recognize, appreciate and respect the diversity of our participants and we welcome contributions from everyone who shares our goals and wants to contribute in a healthy and constructive manner within our community. We require all those who participate in the SCIP community – online and in-person – to adhere to these Community Participation Guidelines in order to help us all in creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment where we can learn and grow together.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

It is impossible to outline every positive or unacceptable behavior so please use good judgement and be professional. Anyone being asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

Inappropriate behavior from any SCIP participant or SCIP administration team member will not be tolerated. Any violation can result in you being removed from the online space (Slack), either temporarily or for the duration of the program.

Reporting

If you believe you’re experiencing unacceptable behavior that will not be tolerated as outlined above, please report it to the SCIP Admin team. The SCIP Admin team will review and determine the next steps.

Please also report to us if you observe a potentially dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of these guidelines, even if the situation is not happening to you.

If you feel you have been unfairly accused of violating these guidelines, please follow the same reporting process.
